Kevin Lawson Whitten, 39, of South Boston had previously imposed jail terms against him for three drug charges suspended on Thursday upon his successful completion of Drug Court.


In June, Whitten pleaded guilty to a charge for possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.


Pursuant to a plea agreement with the commonwealth, the commonwealth moved to nol pros charges against Whitten for possession of amphetamine and possession of buprenorphine.


White sentenced Whitten to five years in prison for possession of methamphetamine, with all but one year suspended, and she sentenced Whitten to 12-month and six-month suspended jail terms for unauthorized possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.


White ordered the suspended portions of Whitten’s sentence be conditioned on his good behavior for five years and ordered him to be placed on probation for two years, in addition to ordering him to be drug and alcohol


White suspended execution of Whitten’s sentence in order for him to be evaluated for Drug Court, with the review hearing taking place on Thursday.
